Piles are the swelling or inflammation of tissues and veins that are diagnosed inside or outside of the anus. The size of piles can vary, and it occurs due to chronic diarrhea, chronic constipation, pregnancy, lifting heavy weights, or straining while passing a stool. Internal piles are the most common type, and it is located between 2 and 4 cm above the opening of the anus. The external piles are placed on the outside edge of the anus.
