Kal Chatti is a cooking vessel that is carved out from stone, usually soapstone which is a natural soft stone.

The soapstone carved Kal Chatti has thick-walled and is heavy. With these great properties, these stones ensure slow and even cooking. 

Kal Chatti made of soapstone is porous, so the heat and moisture circulate through the stone pot while cooking. This will add and enhance the flavors. 

Traditional Kal Chatti was used on the woodstove from ancient times. But our stone carved and Seasoned Kal Chatti have crafted in a way that these can also be used on the modern gas stove. 

Basically, these Seasoned Kal Chatti used to prepare gravy, any type of veg and non-veg curry but we do not recommend Kal Chatti for dry preparations or sauteing. 

The color of this Kal Chatti may vary from dull grey to dark black because it’s already seasoned based on the traditional and heritage methods.

Things you should know about this Products:

This product is already seasoned. 

It’s not advisable to use in high flames. 

Do not keep the empty Kal Chatti on the flame. 

Fill it with contents and then keep it on the flame.

Reduce the flame level once the stoneware is heated.

Below is the seasoning process and procedures that we are following for all our stone cookwares:

Week 1: Fill the vessel with rice starch water (Water used for washing rice before cooking) or rice flour mixed water every day and set it aside.

Week 2: Fill starch water in the vessel and slowly heat it up in the stove in low flame. Do this process once every day.

Week 3-4: Start cooking vegetables in the vessel in a very low flame.

Week 5: Use vessel for regular cooking in low flame for preparing curries and gravies.
