Description
In the Pacific Ocean and Asian islands, this bonduc nut is used as an important medicinal plant, and also it is similarly used in Africa. The stem of this plant is up to 15 m long, usually, it is armed with robust prickles. The leaves are arranged alternatively, bipinnately compound, with 6-11 pairs of pinnae. The height of the stipules pinnate or 3-5 lobed is up to 20 mm. The petiole and rachis are 15-18 cm long, and the leaflets are opposite, 6-9 pairs are arranged per pinna, oblong, 2-4 cm length, and 1-2 cm width, it is based rounded shape, apex rounded to acute, shortly hairy at least on midrib and margins. Inflorescence a supra-axillary or terminal raceme or panicle 30–60 cm long, densely flowered. The native of this plant is Southern Asia.
