Description
Banyan is a large, evergreen, and deciduous tree that grows up to 20-25m tall. It contains a wide crown leaf, and the branches spread up to 100m or more with the accessory trunks and pillar-like prop roots. This is a single large tree that spreads over a large area and a small forest. In some places in India, the banyan tree is considered a sacred tree. This tree grows in rain forests, monsoon, evergreen, and deciduous forests. Every part of this tree has various health benefits. The traditional uses of banyan are due to the medicinal properties of banyan seed, bark, and other parts.
Health Benefits
The banyan seed powder helps to treat diabetes, warts, hemorrhoids, body heat, and depression, bacterial, fungal infections, vaginal infections, prevents colds, flu, and other infectious diseases.
- Regulates the blood sugar
Banyan tree fruits and seeds are well-known for their sweetness and usually, doctors will not recommend sugar for diabetes.
However, although banyan tree fruit is sweet, the fructose and glucose in it will not raise your blood sugar.
Besides fructose and glucose, the banyan tree fruit is completely filled with unsaturated fiber and carbohydrates which will slow down the process of excess sugar absorption on your digestive system.
- Lowers cholesterol
The unsaturated fat in banyan tree fruit is a great factor for lowering cholesterol levels.
It is able to perform its benefits because the pectin of the unsaturated fat will get rid of the cholesterol through a human’s excretion system such as feces, urine, and sweat.
